The Town of Garner adopted a new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) on July 5, 2022, effective immediately. This UDO was undertaken to streamline and re-write regulations in response to the Town's Garner Forward comprehensive planning effort.

Complete applications submitted for projects prior to July 5, 2022, may elect to continue under the previous UDO by declaring their "permit choice". The previous UDO was adopted on July 22, 2003, effective on October 1, 2003, and was codified in May 2006.
