Artist: Subha Raghu
On display July 15 - August 31, 2017
Garner Performing Arts Center Lobby Art Gallery
Open to the public Monday – Friday 1:30 – 5:00 p.m. and during events.
Subha Raghu hails from Chennai, a city in south India.
Nature in all its abundance is the primary source of inspiration behind her artwork. She enjoys the enriching process of interpreting a scene from nature and bringing out its splendor with a touch of color. Subha works primarily with acrylics, in addition to soft pastels, colored pencils and charcoal, and paints on varied surfaces like canvas, wood and glass to mention a few.
Being a completely self taught fine artist, she finds painting a liberating experience, and a journey from a blank canvas to a painting is simultaneously an inward one, one of introspection and thereby, self expression.
Subha Raghu lives in Morrisville, NC and has also been teaching Carnatic vocal music (south Indian classical music) since 2003.
