Post Date:05/02/2018 1:00 PM

The Town of Garner and Downtown Garner Association (DGA) have won nine Excellence in Communications Awards this year from North Carolina City and County Communicators (NC3C). The nine statewide awards are more than were received by any other jurisdiction this year and more than any jurisdiction has received in at least the past several annual competitions.

The award-winning work was in a variety of print, video and marketing categories. The honored work involved the skillful efforts of the Town's Economic Development, Finance, Administration, and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Departments, as well as the DGA.

The Town and DGA won the following six first-place awards:

The Town and DGA also earned second-place awards in these categories:

"These awards are a testament to the hard work of a large number of Town staff members and DGA volunteers," Town Communications Manager Rick Mercier said. "We have an incredible array of talented people who are committed to informing citizens and promoting Garner with the best possible print, digital and video products. We'll continue to stay abreast of new communications technologies and platforms so that we can serve our citizens and Town in a way that they deserve."

The Town and DGA have won 21 Excellence in Communications Awards from NC3C since the Town started submitting entries in 2012, making Garner a leader among jurisdictions that have participated in the annual competition during that time period.

The purpose of NC3C is to encourage professional development and networking among local governmental communications professionals. The organization was formed in 2007 and is made up of government professional communicators from around the state. NC3C currently has approximately 150 members representing 47 municipalities and 20 counties across the state.
