Garner Names New Assistant Town Manager-Operations
Town Manager Rodney Dickerson announced on Jan. 6 that Matt Roylance will be the Town of Garner’s next assistant town manager-operations, a position that has been vacant since Dickerson was elevated from that role to become Garner’s top administrator.
Roylance has been Wake County’s deputy director of parks, recreation and open space since October 2012. Prior to that, he served as the county’s deputy director of environmental services for over four and a half years and as assistant to the county manager for over two years. He has also worked as budget and management analyst for the Town of Cary and held the same position for Fairfax County, Va.
Roylance earned a master’s of public administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in urban affairs from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
Dickerson informed the Town Council and Mayor Ronnie Williams of his selection of Roylance early Friday afternoon.
“Matt performed very well in the selection process and received excellent comments from his references,” Dickerson said. “I am excited to have him as a part of the team and believe he will be a good fit for our organization.”
Roylance was selected from among 234 applicants. His first day with the Town of Garner will be Feb. 6.
Dickerson previously served as the Town’s assistant town manager-operations, becoming interim town manager last January and permanent town manager in March.
