Garner Police Investigate Pedestrian Fatality
Incident Occurred on U.S. 401 N Near Mechanical Boulevard

On Oct. 28 at around 6:15 a.m., a white 2004 Chevrolet work truck driven by Jeffrey Glenn Pate of Fuquay-Varina struck 54yo Isias Jiminez-Rangel of 1015 Hightower Road in Raleigh as he was crossing U.S. 401 North near the intersection of Mechanical Boulevard. All lanes of U.S. 401 North are open, and no other closings are anticipated. At this time, no charges are expected to be filed. The incident, however, is still an open and active investigation as police piece together the events that led up to the accident.
The Garner Police Department is continuing its investigation into an early-morning accident involving a pedestrian on U.S. 401 N near Mechanical Boulevard. The accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. Friday and involved a single vehicle that struck a pedestrian trying to cross U.S. 401. At this time, the name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Garner PD's accident reconstruction team will remain on the scene while it investigates the accident. Traffic is expected to be delayed on U.S. 401 N throughout the morning commute. The right lane and right turn lane on U.S. 401 N are closed while the investigation continues.
